Community groups in Ward 5 encouraged to apply for funding to support local projects

The Chair of the Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Area Committee is reminding community groups and organisations across Ward 5 to make sure they don’t miss out on the opportunity to apply for a share of the Scottish Government’s Place-Based Investment programme funding to help deliver local projects.

The Scottish Government has allocated Highland Council, £1,963,000 of ring-fenced Place Based Investment Programme funding for the current financial year of which the Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh ward will receive £80,906 in the first round of funding.

The Programme seeks to support capital projects which deliver on place policy ambitions such as town centre revitalisation and community led regeneration and are shaped by the needs and aspirations of local communities.

Chair Cllr Ian Cockburn said: “This area-based approach to divvying up the funding from the Scottish Government means we can target support where it is most needed at a very local level. This is a great opportunity for local groups across Ward 5 to get some funding to support them in their work. We expect demand to be high so I urge anyone with a project that they think could benefit from this funding to get their application in as soon as possible.”

The closing date for applications to be received is 2pm on the 21 January 2022
