Highland Council winter road condition report for Friday 25 February 2022

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Friday 25 February are as follows:

Badenoch and Strathspey: Posted at 07:42 – There is a light covering of snow across the area along with widespread ice. Roads are being treated as necessary.

Caithness: Posted at 08:27 – A mixture of slush and frozen snow up to 2inches deep in places. All routes being treated as required. No other issues to report.

Inverness: Posted at 05:53 - Low ground roads are icy and there is an inch covering of snow on high ground roads. Treatment underway on all routes.

Lochaber: Posted at 08:38 - Roads are very icy with low temperatures. No problems overnight.

Nairn: Posted at 06:49 – Damp and wet roads at lower levels with dustings of snow on higher routes. Roads are being treated as necessary.

Ross and Cromarty East: Posted at 06:25 - Ice affecting all roads. All routes being treated. Caution advised on any untreated surfaces.

Ross and Cromarty West: Posted at 09:28 - Frozen slush on most routes so all are being treated.

Skye and Raasay: Posted at 07:35 - Minus road temps registering across all Skye routes with icy patches and hail coverings impacting across most roads. Primary and Secondary routes being treated currently. Treatments extending to other routes pending return to positive road temps from 10 am onwards.

Sutherland: Posted at 08:11 - Frozen slush and snow affecting most routes, up to an inch of snow on higher routes. Some roads very slippery so these are receiving additional treatment.

As at 10am today no Highland schools are closed due to the winter weather.
