Upgrade Works at Uig Harbour – Update on Outage

Preparation for the Uig Harbour works are on-going, with the Highland Council working closely with RJ McLeod (Contractors) Ltd regarding the programme. The planned outage of September 2022 to February 2023 to allow for construction and replacement of key elements of the harbour infrastructure is currently being reviewed and it is hoped that the outage period dates will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The Highland Council appreciates the importance of the ferry service to the communities it serves.  To allow the works to be completed, the Council will keep all users informed of progress and of any potential changes to the service, engaging with CalMac Ferries Ltd.

When outage dates are confirmed, CalMac Ferries Ltd will hold a second round of community consultation on plans to be implemented during the closure of Uig Harbour. Similar to their first round of community consultations, the consultation events will be held in Uist, Skye and Harris.

The community will be informed of further details of the construction works and traffic management arrangements through locally held liaison meetings over the next month and throughout the project, the Highland Council Project website – https://www.highland.gov.uk/uig-harbour-redevelopment, community Facebook pages and on noticeboards located around the local community.
