Highland road conditions report - Thursday 7 April 2022

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.  It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road conditions reports for Thursday 7 April 2022 are as follows:

Lochaber (posted 0833)

  • Winter treatment on Carnoch to Lochaline only this morning.  All other routes wet with positive road surface temperatures.  No overnight issues.

Badenoch and Strathspey (posted 0759)

  • North end of the area has heavy snow on higher routes.  Being treated as necessary, no south at south end of area.

Nairn (posted 0756)

  • 1" to 2" snow on higher roads, being treated as necessary.  B9090 has a blown down tree which is being attended to, otherwise no known issues.

Sutherland (posted 0749)

  • Roads mainly wet, up to 50mm snow cover on higher routes.  All primary routes being checked and treated as necessary.  No known issues.

Caithness (posted 0748)

  • Dry damp roads.  No action and no overnight issues.

Skye and Raasay (posted 0716)

  • Some sleet showers this morning, road temperatures milder than forecast.  Primary routes treated and gritters stood down.  No overnight issues to report.

Ross and Cromarty (posted 0620)

  • Very wet on lower roads with up to 2" of wet snow on higher roads.  All routes being checked and treated accordingly.

Inverness (posted 0548)

  • Low roads wet.  1"-2" wet snow cover on high roads.  Gritters heading out on rural routes.
