Joint Administration agreed by Council

The Highland Council has agreed the formation of a joint Administration between the Scottish National Party (SNP) Group and the Highland Independent Group.

Senior Office Bearers were also agreed.

Councillor Bill Lobban was elected Convener of the Council.

Councillor Raymond Bremner was elected as Council Leader.

Councillor Alasdair Christie was elected Leader of the Opposition.

Councillor Raymond Bremner will lead the joint Administration.

He said: “I am delighted to be elected Leader of the Highland Council. It will be a great privilege to lead the Council through the coming years and to navigate a period of great challenges and equally great opportunities. There are many strengths and talents within the Council, both in elected members and our staff and I look forward to working with everyone to maximise those opportunities for the Highlands.”

Convener Councillor Bill Lobban added: “I am delighted to take up the role of Convener again and look forward to working closely with the Leader and members across the chamber over the coming term, as we work together for the benefit of the people of the Highlands.”

The next Council meeting will take place on 9 June at which discussions will take place about how the Council structure its committees and where a range of further appointments of office bearers will be made.
