Caol shopping centre area resurfacing works and temporary traffic diversion 4 - 8 July 2022

Caol shopping centre car park and surrounding junctions will be affected by a partial closure and traffic diversion for resurfacing works will take place Monday 4 - Friday 8 July 2022.

Traffic diversion and partial closure of the car park and surrounding junctions will be in place on 4 July 2022 from 07:00 and will remain until 8 July 18:00.

There are 5 phases:

Phase 1  Glenloy Street (from Kilmallie junction to the Glenkingie Street junction including a section of Clunes Avenue) and the car park will be fully closed on the morning of Monday 4 July 2022 for surfacing preparatory works.

Phase 2    Resurfacing of Glenloy Street from the Kilmallie junction to the entrance of the car park.

Phase 3    Resurfacing of Glenloy street section alongside the car park

Phase 4    Resurfacing of the western section of the car park

Phase 5    Resurfacing of the eastern section of the car park

The car park will be resurfaced in two halves to always maintain parking availability. Please note that there will be reduced number of parking spaces available during the five days of works.

Line markings will be applied shortly after resurfacing.

Traffic diversions are in place at the following locations:

  • Glenloy Street, Fort William

Posters are displayed around the car park on street lighting columns and traffic management/diversion signs are erected around Caol shopping area for public awareness.

The partial closure is required in the interest of public safety to enable Contractors, working on behalf of The Highland Council, to carry out resurfacing works.

Emergency access will be maintained, and consideration has been given to the safety and convenience of alternative routes suitable for the traffic which will be affected by the Caol shopping centre car park resurfacing works.

Traffic on the route may experience a longer travel time and The Highland Council would like to thank those affected for your patience and understanding whilst these essential resurfacing works are carried out.
