Duke of Edinburgh Awards for Highland young people

Eighteen young people from the Highlands recently attended the national Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award ceremony in Edinburgh to be presented with their awards.
Convener of The Highland Council, Cllr Bill Lobban said:
“Our congratulations to all the 18 young people who have received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Completing their expeditions, skills, physical challenges and community volunteering activities during a pandemic has been no mean feat and I congratulate them for their excellent achievements. I hope that they all take their experiences with them into adulthood and continue to contribute to their local communities wherever they live in the future.”
Those attending the award presentation were:
- Mitchell Leslie and Julia Leslie (Charleston Academy);
- Jennifer Aitken and James Aitken (Culloden Academy);
- Henry Kerr and George Kerr (Grantown Grammar School);
- Sharlene Fraser, Emma McBride, Alasdair Raynor, Louise Gordon (Inverness Royal Academy);
- Stewart Cameron (Kinlochleven High School);
- Rachel Macrae and Shona Beveridge (Millburn Academy);
- Toran Simmons and Grace Porteous (Nairn Academy); and
- Jennifer Shaw, Sacha Harley and Connor Murphy (Portree High School).
