Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Area Committee Chair and Vice Chair appointed

Councillor Biz Campbell has been appointed as Chair of The Highland Council’s Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Area Committee.

Her appointment was made earlier today (29 August 2022), at the first Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Area Committee held since this year’s local Government election.

It was agreed at the meeting that Cllr Campbell will Chair the committee for 12 months, supported by Cllr Liz Kraft as Vice Chair, before they switch roles next year.

Speaking after her appointment, Cllr Biz Campbell said: “I would like to thank my colleagues for supporting me in my appointment as Chair of our local Committee.

“We have our own identity in the Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh areas. Therefore, while we have shared circumstances with communities in the wider Highland area, we have individual challenges which will be our priority. Myself and my fellow councillors must listen and work with our local communities to develop these priorities over the next 5 years.

“It is an honour to serve as a voice for our local community members and we will work hard to deliver for our residents.”

During the meeting, Members also had an opportunity to listen to Police Scotland’s latest local performance report, confirm member appointments, agree the Winter Service Plan, and allocate a grant to a project from the Highland Coastal Communities Fund.
