Corran Ferry – Infrastructure Improvement Scheme – Pre-Application Consultation Event

The Highland Council is planning to upgrade the ferry service on the Corran Narrows, Loch Linnhe, subject to funding and Council committee approval. The project will involve replacing the existing ferries with two electric vessels and construction of new infrastructure which includes slipway/linkspan structures, overnight berthing structure, marshalling areas, public facilities and operator offices/accommodation.

The Council will be holding a pre-application consultation event on Thursday 10 November at the Ardgour Memorial Hall, Clovullin, Corran, Fort William PH33 7AB. The drop-in event will take place between 2pm and 8pm. The existing ferry service is free for foot passengers. Transport from the Ardgour Ferry Terminal to the Ardgour Memorial Hall will be provided.

The event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to consider and comment upon the proposals. Consultation material will be made available after the event on www.affriclimited.co.uk/consultations

Chair of the Lochaber Committee, Councillor Kate Willis hopes as many people as possible take up this opportunity to find out more about what is proposed. She said: “The Corran Ferry is the busiest single vessel route in Scotland, providing a lifeline service to the communities of Ardnamurchan, Morvern and Mull.

“The current service, operated with an ageing vessel, is not sustainable. This drop-in consultation event is a chance to find out more about proposals to replace the ferry and improve the infrastructure. We are looking for people to pass on their comments. All feedback is welcome.”

Any representations made to The Highland Council or Affric Limited are not representations to the Scottish Ministers. Once the Planning and Marine Licence applications have been submitted to the Highland Council and Marine Scotland respectively, there will be an opportunity for representations to be made directly to them.
