Highland Council winter road condition report for Wednesday 21 December 2022

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. Road condition reports for Wednesday 21 December 2022 are as follows:

Badenoch and Strathspey

Posted - 07:39 - Wet/damp roads with positive air temperatures throughout the area. Primary and secondary routes being treated in the North end of the area. No known overnight issues.

Caithness

Posted - 08:09 - Positive road side temperatures and wet roads. No action required. No other known issues to report. 

Inverness

Posted - 06:00 - Surfaces wet with icy patches/stretches on some roads. Gritters out treating all routes. 

Lochaber

Posted - 09.23 - No winter treatments carried out, wet and windy in Lochaber. No road related issues reported. 

Nairn

Posted - 07:37 - Wet roads with positive temperatures throughout the area, apart from the higher route. Higher route being treated this morning. No known overnight issues. 

Ross and Cromarty (East)

Posted - 08:35 - Road side temperatures and air temperatures all above freezing this morning. Grey frost and patchy ice on secondary and higher routes. All primary, secondary and other difficult routes are being checked and treated as a precaution this morning. 

Skye and Raasay

Posted - 08:25 - No planned action. Positive road surface temperatures throughout. No issues reported overnight 

Sutherland

Posted - 08:40 - Still some hard packed snow and ice on some inland routes which are proving hard to move. Secondary routes are being treated where possible. No known overnight issues.

As of 09:50 this morning there was 1 Nursery School closed.
