Highland Council winter road conditions report for Wednesday 28 December 2022

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Wednesday 28 2022 are as follows:

Badenoch and Strathspey

Posted – 08:50 - Fresh snow overnight. All routes are being treated with Primary and Secondary routes being treated as priority. No known overnight issues.

Caithness

Posted – 08:01 - All Primary 1 routes clear. Primary  routes have some snow slush on parts and are being treated. No other issues to report.

Inverness

Posted - 07:04 – Road surface temperatures just below 0 over most of the network this morning. Crews are covering all routes and footpaths in line with priority. No known issues

Lochaber

Posted 09:42 - Positive temperatures overnight with no issues. Precautionary treatment underway where required.

Skye

Posted- 09:11 - Road temperatures remained positive overnight and this morning. Crews stood down on completion of Primary Routes.

Nairn

Posted – 08:49 - Fresh snow overnight. All routes being treated with Primary and secondary routes being treated as priority. No known overnight issues.

Wester Ross

Posted - 08:42 – Overnight road surface temperatures were a bit higher than forecast. No problems on the network this morning on all routes. No reported overnight issues.

Ross and Cromarty (East)

Posted – 11:04 - All routes being treated, including Others. Footpaths are hard packed snow and ice too and very slippery in places. Caution is advised on any untreated surfaces.
