Highland Council winter road conditions report for Wednesday 04 January 2023

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Wednesday 04 January 2023 are as follows:

Sutherland
Posted 08:27 - Mainly damp roads, with a light sparkle in sheltered areas although there is some hard packed snow sections on higher ground on Primary two routes.

Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted 07:51 - Marginal road surface temperatures with some rain and frosty patches. Crews are treating selected routes. No overnight issues reported

Caithness

Posted 07:37 - Positive road surface temperatures overnight. Damp and wet roads this morning. No treatment required. No known overnight issues to report.

Inverness
Posted 06:03 – Wet roads. No known issues

Lochaber
Posted 06:47 - Positive road temperatures this morning with wet roads and patchy fog in places. No known issues.

Skye
Posted05:59 - Positive Road Temperatures this morning so no winter action required. No overnight issues

Nairn
Posted 07:53 – There are marginal road surface temperatures on higher roads and  roads are wet so crews are carrying out selected treatment as required. No overnight issues reported

Wester Ross (Ward 5)
Posted 08:07 – No overnight issues. Roads are wet. On-going treatment underway on The Bealach route.

Ross and Cromarty (East)
Posted 10:11 – There are positive road surface temperatures with no action required this morning. Just wet roads across the area.
