Highland Council winter road conditions report for Thursday 12 January 2023

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
Road condition reports for Thursday, 12 January 2023 are as follows:
Ross and Cromarty (as at 08:48): Road surface temperatures low across the network, ice and frost affecting all routes this morning. Treatment ongoing this morning with all routes being covered. No overnight issues reported.
Lochaber (as at 08:39): Damp roads with temperatures higher than forecast no winter maintenance required , no known overnight issues
Caithness (as at 08:17): Main roads damp and occasional sparkle, inland routes sparkling roads and some white frosts about also, no issues reported.
Badenoch and Strathspey (as at 08:15): Wet and icy roads in the area this morning. Primary and Secondary routes being treated. No known overnight issues.
Nairn (as at 08:13): Wet roads with icy patches throughout the area. Primary and Secondary routes being treated this morning. No known overnight issues.
Sutherland (as at 08:09) Road surface temperatures low throughout the area, icy in places. All routes being treated in order of priority this morning.
Skye and Raasay (as at 07:34): Precautionary treatments last night on all Primary routes. Marginal temperatures for longer than forecast this morning. Thursday morning treatment involving North Skye Primary routes only. Positive road temperatures in South Skye. Roads mostly dry with some sparkle.
Inverness (as at 07:04): Wet roads this morning with negative road surface temperatures , covering all routes and footpaths as per policy. Temperatures expected to rise late morning. no known issues
Kilmuir Primary Nursery - Gaelic Medium closed due to unforeseen circumstances.
