City Leader flies the flag for Inverness at Scottish Cities Week 2023 event in London

The Highland Council’s City Leader, Cllr Ian Brown has returned from taking part in Scottish Cities Week (23-26 January) where he has been showcasing the investment potential of Inverness and the Highlands to a wide range of national and international investors and developers.

The Highland Council attended as part of The Scottish Cities Alliance, a unique collaboration of Scotland’s eight cities – Aberdeen, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling – and the Scottish Government working together to promote the country’s great economic potential.

The 3-day programme included events and sessions led by Alliance partners and stakeholders, focusing on a range of topics key to unlocking transformational change across the eight Scottish city economies. It was also attended by investors and developers as well as representatives from the Scottish Government, Scottish Development International, and Department for International Trade.

Cllr Ian Brown said: “The event has been a great opportunity to be proactive. By taking part in the events and networking we have had the chance to specifically highlight to investors two key projects for our city that will bring a very welcomed economic boost to not only Inverness but also the wider Highlands – the regeneration of Inverness Castle and the development of the Inverness Campus.

“These two major redevelopment projects are about using heritage and culture as well as investment in infrastructure, technology, life sciences, and transport to attract new employment and business opportunities. I feel that taking part in such a collaborative one-stop shop investment event under the Alliance banner helps us to build further on the strengths and opportunities for Inverness and the wider region.”
