Skye and Raasay Housing Capital Programme priorities agreed for 2023-2027

Isle of Skye and Raasay Area Committee met today (Monday 30 January 2023) and agreed the proposed Housing Revenue Account (HRA) priorities for 2023-2027.

Isle of Skye and Raasay Area Committee Chair, Cllr John Finlayson said: “Members are pleased to see a life-cycle and component accounting approach to HRA programme over the next four years. It will target replacement of kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors and heating systems based on their age and installation date.

“Also welcomed is the continued allocation of funding for adaptations and modifications to allow disabled and elderly tenants to remain in their current tenancy. This is vitally important, particularly in rural and island settings to enable people to remain at home and perhaps around friends and family that can be extremely beneficial to their health and wellbeing.”

The HRA allocation for Skye and Raasay area 2023-2027 is approx. £500,000 per year totalling just over £2M. The proposed Isle of Skye and Raasay HRA Capital Programme for 2023-27 recommends a key priority of investment in energy efficiency works on the housing stock. This reflects the strategic commitment towards increased spend on heating/energy efficiency measures to assist with improving the energy efficiency of the housing stock.

Members will continue to be updated on progress against the HRA capital programme through ward business meeting updates and committee reports on request.
