Highland Council winter road conditions report for Thursday 9th February 2023

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for the areas where road treatment has been carried out on Thursday 9th February 2023 are as follows:

Skye and Raasay (as at 05:58)

Some minus temperatures recorded overnight.  No action this morning.  No overnight issues to report.

Inverness (as at 07:36)

Some low road surface temperatures on higher ground and a light dusting of snow.  Treating Tomatin area.  No known issues.

Badenoch and Strathspey (as at 07:41)

Wet roads throughout the south end of the area with frost and ice in the north.  Primary and secondary routes being treated this morning with no overnight issues.

Caithness (as at 07:41)

Mainly wet roads on main routes with a good sparkle in sheltered areas and inland.  Roads treatment as necessary.  No overnight issues reported.

Nairn (as at 07:41)

Wet roads throughout the area.  Primary and secondary routes being treated as a precaution.  No overnight issues.

Sutherland (as at 07:56)

Mainly wet roads with wintry showers.  An odd sparkle on some high level routes.  All Primary routes being treated as a precaution, other routes as necessary.  No known issues.

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (as at 08:26)

Blizzard conditions on top of Bealach.  Slush on the Fain.  All other routes wet and windy.  No overnight issues reported.

Lochaber (as at 08:41)

Wet/damp roads, very windy overnight.  No problems reported.

Ross and Cromarty (as at 09:04)

Wet roads with sleet on higher ground.  No issues reported overnight.
