Appointment made to take forward Nairn’s Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle Feasibility Study

Following the conclusion of a robust procurement process, Highland Council can now announce the appointment of Enscape Consulting Limited to take forward a feasibility study for a Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle Feasibility Study for Nairn.

The project is expected to take around three months, concluding in late August.

The study will assess the practicality and viability of the model in Nairn and identify potential opportunities and challenges.  Upon conclusion, the final report and recommendations will be reported to the Nairnshire Area Committee.

Chairman of the Nairnshire Area Committee, Councillor Michael Green, commented:  “In announcing this appointment today, the project has reached another important milestone.  The Feasibility Study is underway and will align well with the Council’s strategic priority to reduce residual waste and increase reuse, repair and recycling to a deliver a more Sustainable Highland Environment.

He continued:  “The Nairn Feasibility study is not only great news for Nairn, but it is also a pathfinder model for Highland and increasing Reusing and Recycling.  Research has seen benefits beyond the management of waste and reducing what we send to landfill – other benefits have an impact on Climate Change and our Net Zero agenda.  A further key focus will be to explore the potential for local skills development and employment opportunities.”

The feasibility study is being co-funded funded by Highland Council and Highlands & Islands Enterprise.
