Council rangers lead a rockpool ramble

Children are being invited to join Highland Council’s Rangers on a rockpool ramble at Nairn beach on Saturday 9th June.

From 2 till 3.30pm, Inverness East & Nairn Countryside Ranger John Orr will encourage children and families to guddle in a puddle on the Nairn seashore. The rockpool ramble will be followed by some seashore related fun and games on the sand.

John Orr said: “The Moray Firth coast has a wealth of wildlife and at low tide we get a chance to discover some of the creatures and plants that the sea has revealed. All kinds of amazing underwater wildlife is waiting to be discovered. This is a great family activity and, along with the seashore games, is a great opportunity to learn more about our coastal wildlife.”

Organised as part of The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Services countryside events programme, the event is suitable for family groups. Children must be accompanied by an adult. It is free to attend. To book a place or for further information please telephone 01463 702932.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
