Dispute at Corbett Centre, Inverness

The Council is disappointed that the trade union representatives did not postpone the half-day strike action at the Corbett Centre today (Wednesday) after the Council offered to involve ACAS in overseeing discussions between the two parties to resolve the dispute over transport arrangements.

The trade union representatives wanted a fourth minibus reinstated before agreeing to suspend their action.

The Council said the rescheduling of transport arrangements that would have resulted from the reintroduction of a fourth bus, withdrawn some weeks ago, would have caused undue disruption and confusion to Service users and declined this suggestion.

A spokesman said: “We very much regret the inconvenience that the strike action has caused to Service users.  We have advised the trade union representatives that we are available to meet with them to discuss how this matter can best be resolved and the offer of using ACAS is still open to them.”

A number of Service Users attended the Corbett Centre at lunch time today, once the half-day strike action was over and they were transported home by Council staff.

There was no disruption to services at the Mackenzie Centre, Inverness.
