Highland businesses invited to apply for Energy Efficiency Grant
Highland businesses are being invited to apply for a grant to help them reduce their carbon footprint by reducing energy consumption.
Chair of The Highland Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Cllr Ken Gowans said: “Everyone recognises that we all need to do more in response to the climate change crisis we face. However, our ability to do so, especially when investment is first required, isn’t easy for anyone and especially for our small businesses at the current time.
“With funding secured from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we are offering grants of up to £15,000 to Highland businesses to support them to make changes to their premises and business operations. In doing so we want to help them reduce their Carbon Footprint from energy consumption.”
Eligible expenditure for the grant includes changing to a low carbon heating system, installing low or zero carbon generating technologies such solar PV, biomass, waste minimisation and/ or reduction, and building fabric upgrades such as insulation or energy efficient lighting.
To secure this grant and other business grants available from the Council, businesses are asked to go to the Council’s website - follow the guidance available and apply as soon as they have all the information gathered.
If businesses are unsure as to which carbon reduction investment will work best for their business, they are asked to contact the Council’s Business Gateway Highland service to seek advice and to access the online information available
