Milton Primary and Early Learning Centre has received a high rating and positive report following their most recent inspection by the Care Inspectorate.

The report praised various qualities which contribute to a nurturing environment in the ELC including the high quality play and learning opportunities, play spaces, staff, and strong leadership. The report notes:

‘Staff were kind, nurturing and compassionate, supporting children to feel secure, settle and build confidence. Staff spoke knowledgably about children's individual needs, likes and preferences. They effectively met children's needs throughout the day as they were able to anticipate them in advance.’

‘Children were having fun as they experienced high quality play and learning opportunities. They were meaningfully leading their play, supported by staff who knew when to stand back and when to intervene.’

‘Strong leadership promoted a shared vision which reflected the aspirations of children and their families.’

‘Staff interactions were warm and caring. Staff and the manager had high aspirations for all children, and this was evident in the care and support they received.’

Gemma Dunnett, Head Teacher at the school said: “I am so pleased that the strengths of our lovely nursery have been recognised by the Care Inspectorate. Our staff work so hard to make sure our children get the best possible start to their education. The whole Milton community should be proud of what has been achieved by everyone involved in the nursery.”

Cllr John Finlayson, Education Chair said: “It is clear from the findings in this report that the nursery at Milton Primary School is working incredibly hard to continuously create a caring and supportive environment which is actively promoted by staff at all times. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved whose skills and knowledge has contributed to this great outcome in providing a safe and nurturing space to play and learn.”
