Area Place Plan for Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Area Committee agreed
A dynamic yet robust Area Place Plan (APP) for Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Area was agreed yesterday (Monday 20 January 2025) which clearly outlines the aspirations expressed by the communities within its boundaries, many of which link across to proposed or potential actions contained as part of wider Highland plans such as the Highland Investment Plan, Highland Local Development Plan, Highland Outcome Improvement Plan and the Strategic Housing Investment Plan.
WRSL Committee Chair, Cllr Biz Campbell said: “The APP highlights the urgent need for suitable and affordable housing; managing tourism in a way that puts community needs first; improved digital connectivity; better provision of public transport; and addressing the increasing age gap in the population, taking into consideration the needs of those both young and older; and a desire for improved health and wellbeing services and facilities including both care and mental health.
“We have a wealth of committed local community initiatives, who are eager to support the vision of the APP and we must continue to work to seek out every funding opportunity available to allow the area to continue to thrive.
“Special thanks to the Wester Ross UNESCO Biosphere team for leading on the consultations and developing the APP. The report is packed is full of insightful and thought provoking elements for the area to consider and take forward.”
