Badenoch and Strathspey Committee members agree funding for community regeneration project
£80,000 of Community Regeneration Funding has been awarded to the Laggantygown Cemetery Car Park and Loch Vaa project at this week’s meeting of the Badenoch and Strathspey Committee.
Cllr Russell Jones, Chair of the Badenoch and Strathspey Committee, said: “Community Regeneration Funding helps us support key projects in the heart of our communities and I am pleased that this project can now be taken forward.
“£50,000 of funding from the Highland Coastal Communities Fund was ringfenced for this project at the last area committee in April and this has been a truly collaborative project with local landowners. I am delighted that the further funding required has been secured for additional car parking and path development, which will bring welcome improvements for those visiting Loch Vaa and Laggantygown Cemetery.”
The project involves the improvement of the existing car park beside the main A95 road, gradient improvements and upgrades of the existing path network to make Loch Vaa more accessible, new signage and a new smaller short stay car park for visitors to the cemetery.
Community Regeneration Funding is an umbrella term for several funds that are available for communities and organisations to access in Highland. The Highland Coastal Communities Fund is designed to support economic regeneration and sustainable development around coastal areas in Highland.
