Advice for consumers on Private Water Supplies during periods of power outage

Consumers that are on private water supplies and are affected by power cuts are being advised by Highland Council's Environmental Health team, to pre-boil their water, if they have a means to do so, before drinking it.

During power outages some water treatment systems (e.g. Ultra Violet (UV) disinfection) will not be effective at treating the water.
