There will be extra foot passenger crossings between Camusnagaul and Fort William during the nine days of the Royal National Mòd in Lochaber.

The extra crossings have been agreed after requests from the community, and support from Highland Council’s ward discretionary fund for Fort William and Ardnamurchan.

Highland Councillor Sarah Fanet, a community Councillor and Highland Council officials had been in talks with Highland Ferries to discuss ways of facilitating access to The Royal National Mòd events held in Fort William for the people of the other side of Loch Linnhe - particularly as some events will finish after the last crossing of the Corran Ferry.

A statement on behalf of the ward councillors – Andrew Baxter, Sarah Fanet, Thomas MacLennan and Kate Willis - said: “We are very grateful to the Highland Ferries for this special timetable which will make it easier for residents to enjoy The Royal National Mòd.

“The passenger ferry from Camusnagaul offers an enjoyable way of travelling to Fort William and we strongly encourage residents on the peninsula to use this opportunity to show that the demand for this passenger ferry service is there and is strong.”

Thanks go to Highland Council officials for liaising with the Mòd organisers and Community Councillor Claire Bennett-Levy for her work inside the community to assess the demand.
