Highland Council winter road conditions for 16 December 2025

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Skye & Raasay (as at 05:48)

Wet and mild. No winter action required. No overnight issues to report.

Ross & Cromarty East (as at 07:43)

Negative road surface temperatures this morning, mixture of dry and damp roads with patchy grey frost. All Primary and Secondary route treatment ongoing this morning. No overnight issues reported.

Sutherland (as at 07:26)

A touch of frost affecting routes away from the west coast, these routes are currently being treated in order of priority. No known issues.

Caithness (as at 08:24)

Grey frost on most routes this morning, all affected routes being treated as required. No known issues to report.

Nairn (as at 06:54)

Cold and frosty morning. Treatment being carried out on all routes due to ice and frost. No known overnight issues.

Badenoch & Strathspey (as at 06:54)

Cold start to the morning with negative temperatures across the network. Ice and frost throughout the area. Winter action being carried out on all routes. No known overnight issues.

Ward 5 Ross and Cromarty (as at 06:58)

A mix of damp and dry roads with reports of some icy patches. Winter treatment of some routes ongoing. No overnight issues reported.

Inverness (as at 07:48)

Some grey frost around this morning. Primary and Secondary route treatment, along with main paths. No known issues.

Lochaber (as at 08:02)

Raining overnight with positive road surface temperatures.  No known issues.
