Nairn Viewfield Stables future secured with Community Regeneration Funding

The Nairnshire Committee yesterday (9 February 2026) approved an application submitted to the Community Regeneration Fund (CRF), securing major investment and community benefit for the people of Nairnshire.

Chair of Nairnshire Committee, Cllr Michael Green said: “Members have agreed to award £57,601.05 to the Nairn Common Good Fund owned, Viewfield Stables renovation and redevelopment project.

“This award will take an initial step towards helping to transform the historic property into a vibrant space that will generate income and long-term future benefits for the local community.”

The Community Regeneration Funding has been awarded to the Stables Project as it aligns with the fund’s priorities of increasing community resilience, tackling poverty and inequality, addressing rural depopulation, supporting economic recovery, and contributing to climate action. The redevelopment of Viewfield Stables directly supports the priorities set out in the ‘Our Nairnshire Local Place Plan’.

The funding will go towards the first phase of a wider development to create up to three small ground-floor units and one larger unit on the upper floor of the Stables, offering flexible accommodation for retail or other commercial uses.  The first phase works will include a new roof and repairs to the external walls to ensure that the Common Good Fund asset is protected by making the building wind and watertight.

The Community Regeneration Fund brings together Scottish Government funding streams, including the Highland Coastal Communities Fund and the Place Based Investment Programme, to support economic regeneration and sustainable development throughout Highland.
