Public Toilets Programme

Four Highland communities are set to benefit from the replacement of their public toilets in a phased way over the next four years.

Following a major review, priority from 2009/10 onwards is being given to:-

• Fort Augustus
• Ullapool
• Invergordon
• Tanyard, Thurso

Councillor John Laing, Chairman of TEC Services, said:  “The presence of good quality public toilets throughout the Highlands is hugely important as tourism is so important in our area.

“We have set aside £300,000 each year in our capital programme for refurbishment/replacement of facilities. Our spending in this financial year is committed to the replacement of Golspie public toilets and we have now identified four projects to proceed with between 2009 – 2013.

“In a number of communities, we are working in partnership with businesses or community groups to provide a service and we will be developing this in the future.”
