District Park at Inshes, Inverness

Proposals for an 80-acre District Park at Inshes, Inverness,  will be unveiled at a meeting of The Highland Council’s  Inverness South Ward Forum being held on Wednesday (27 February) at Inshes Primary School, starting at 7.30 pm.  On view will be displays with maps of what is planned and members of the public will have the opportunity to ask questions about the plans.

Councillor Roy Pedersen, who will chair Wednesday’s meeting, said Inshes District Park would create green open space where families could enjoy their natural environment.  He said: “Inverness is already the natural place to be for people and wildlife, with green, clean and seen spaces. The Council’s greenspace strategy is to provide usable greenspace throughout the city that is accessible to local people at the heart of local communities. The District Park at Inshes is an excellent example of that - with the added benefit for schoolchildren of being right beside their school – an asset they can readily use to develop environmental education.”

Debbie Maguire, greeninverness officer, said: “The District Park at Inshes is an important project from the City of Inverness Greenspace Strategy. It will preserve a valuable green wedge in Inverness South as well as provide useable amenity greenspace for local people that we know is beneficial in terms of health, social and environmental factors.”

Inverness South Ward Forum is open to all members of the public who can ask any questions of The Highland Council or their partner agencies delivering public services. Councillor Pedersen will be joined at the forum by the other three Councillors for the Ward – Jim Crawford, Thomas Prag and John Holden - together with the Community Councils, Police and representatives from Health and Fire services.

The Ward Forum is an opportunity for the public to meet their Councillors and Community Councillors to ask questions about what is going on in the Ward.  Charles Stephen, Ward Manager (on 01463 724246) can provide more information.
