Extended Opening Hours For Kyle Library

From Monday 3 March the opening hours at Kyle Library are to be extended.  The library, which is currently open 2 days a week for 10 hours, will open its doors 5 days a week for a total of 33½ hours.

The new opening hours will be Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.00am to 12.30 and then 1.30pm to 5.00pm.  On Tuesdays the opening hours will be from 1.30 to 3.00pm and from 4.00pm to 8.00pm.

The Chairman of The Highland Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee, Councillor Bill Fernie said:  “I am delighted that we are able to offer the people of Kyle an enhanced library service which now includes the library opening until 8pm one evening a week which will benefit users who find it difficult visiting during the daytime.  With 41 libraries and 8 mobile libraries, the council’s library service covers a huge geographical area and plays an important role in providing a whole range of services. For anyone who has not visited a library recently, I would encourage them to do so as they now offer much more than just books to borrow.”

Kyle library has a wide range of adult fiction and non-fiction, junior fiction and non-fiction, books for teenagers, large print books, audio books, story tapes, adult and junior DVDs and reference information.  There is also a People’s Network computer which provides free internet access.  New library members of all ages are always welcome and full details of how to join are available from the staff.

All library users can now view the vast catalogue of books available for loan, place requests and renew library books via the Highland Council’s website. Full information about all the libraries and details of all opening hours are also available.  Visit /leisureandtourism/libraries/
