Croy - An Improving School Community

An HMIe report on Croy Primary School published today (Tuesday) highly  praises pupils, whose behaviour and attitude to learning were seen as key strengths of the school.  Staff were also praised with special mention of their promotion of pupils’ awareness of other cultures.  The inspectors also praised Acting Head Teacher, Mr Derek Martin, whose own teaching was described as “a model of good practice”.  Pastoral care, accommodation and facilities and climate and relationships were all seen as “very good”.

Mr Martin said: “I am pleased that the report recognises the team effort and hard work of all staff, the polite well behaved pupils and highly motivated nursery children.  It also provides a clear way forward to achieve further improvements in the quality of teaching and our pupils’ learning experiences.  The school team is well placed to take forward Croy School and its community.”

Mrs Liz Faren, Chair of the Parent Council, said: “We have studied the report and agree with the findings.  We would also like to praise the Acting Headteacher and staff for their hard work and dedication.  Our pupils are to be commended for their high standards and attitude to learning.”

The 68-pupil school and the local authority will now prepare an action plan to improve provision even further and share progress with parents within two years.
