Fortrose Head’s Secondment to Nairn

The Head Teacher of Fortrose Academy, Douglas Simpson, is to take charge of Nairn Academy for one year from the start of the new school session in August.

Mr Simpson will replace Mrs Jean Godden, Head Teacher, who is retiring at the end of this month.

The Acting Head Teacher at Fortrose Academy for the 2008-9 session will be his depute, Donnie Mackenzie.

Mr Simpson will return to Fortrose Academy at the end of his year-long          secondment to Nairn.

Mr Simpson has been Head Teacher at Fortrose Academy for the past            19 years. The roll stands at 760, 50% more than when Mr Simpson took over.

His school received an outstanding HMIE report, which praised the excellent culture of achievement at Fortrose and Mr Simpson’s “inspirational” leadership.

He said:  “I have enjoyed my time at Fortrose immensely and have never felt inclined to move elsewhere during the past nearly two decades. However, I was happy to accept the secondment knowing that I leave Fortrose in a very strong position and in the safe hands of my excellent senior management team.’’
