Open Days at New Dingwall Academy

Dingwall Academy has now been officially handed over to The Highland Council and staff are moving-in in preparation for the arrival of the pupils on the Monday 9 June.  There has been a great deal of interest from the public both in Dingwall and further a field to see a first glimpse of the new academy and to have a last sight of the old school before demolition works start in July.  In order to accommodate this there will be a number of opportunities to see around the new school in week beginning Monday 26th May.  Tours will take place on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th May at 2pm.  On Wednesday 28th May there will be an opportunity to visit at 7pm.

All interested parties must register for these tours and they are asked to phone Phyllis Mackenzie at the new school number which is 01349 869860 in order to book a place.  It is very much hoped that anyone who wishes to see the new school will be able to do so either at these times or others to be announced later.  There will be opportunities to have a look round the old school with tours being available on the week beginning Monday June 16th.  Further details of these visits will be announced as soon as possible.  There is also one last occasion for members of the public to participate in a social occasion in Dingwall Academy.  The Final Bell Ceilidh will take place on Friday June 20th 2008 featuring the Donald Dubh Ceilidh Band and Meantime.  Tickets are now available priced £12 and again these tickets can be booked through Phyllis Mackenzie at the Main School Office.

On Monday June 9th a parade will be held from the old academy to the new academy to mark the pupils first day in residence.  There will be pipers, drummers, other musical performers and it is hoped that a colourful parade will ensue.  All of our primary schools will be invited to send a representation.  They are also keen that any member of the public who took part in the parade the last time the school moved from the academy in Tulloch Street to its present location should have an opportunity to take part in this walk.  Anyone who falls into this category is again invited to contact Phyllis Mackenzie at 01349 869860 and we will do our very best to ensure that they are given the opportunity to participate.
