Inverness Leisure Update

James Martin, General Manager at Inverness Leisure said, “Works in relation to re-opening the facilities are now well underway and I am pleased to say that we are now starting to see some real progress.

“This week the initial clean up work has been completed around the pools, and we have now been able to re-open the main reception area to the building making access for our customers much easier.

“We have all been very relieved that the competition pool drained down without any further problems and now sits completely empty.  There will be some work will be undertaken on the pool tank whilst it is dry; but we are still hopeful that we will be able to get water back into it reasonably soon.

“And shortly work will commence to erecting hoardings around the leisure pool in preparation for the competition pool re-opening.  This is because the leisure pool area is effectively going to become a ‘building site’ and by screening this off it will give our customers access to the whole changing village area.

He continued, “Discussions are continuing with our insurers in relation to the actual costs of the bringing the services back on line; however even still at this stage it is too early to give any definite costing.  Suffice to say, we are all very much focussing on the quality of work that is being undertaken to ensure it carried out to as high a standard as possible.

“It has been agreed that our contractors will focus on getting things right now, to prevent any further repairs occurring further down line resulting in potentially further disruption to our customers.

“We are obviously still extremely keen to get our customers back in the facility as soon as possible and we are working closely with our Project Manager and contractors to achieve this.

“I can inform our customers however that during the period of closure we have been, and will continue to utilise the time to carry out some of the works we would normally have undertaken during our festive period maintenance closure.  This means we have negated the requirement for such an exercise this year, so basically once the competition pool opens in a few week, it will remain open for the remainder of the year.

Concluding, the General Manager stated, “We are doing all we can to keep our customers informed, however up-to-date information can be found on the news page of our website at www.invernessleisure.co.uk”
