Council consults on new parking arrangements for Walker Park

Local residents and road users of the Walker Park, Fraser Park area of Kingsmills, Inverness will be invited to comment on new parking restrictions that The Highland Council is proposing to introduce in the area in the New Year.

Due to an increase in the amount of people using the recently upgraded Walker Park, a number of issues related to parking are now being experienced.  The car park at Fraser Park is being used by commuters parking all day and is becoming less available to parents accompanying their children to Walker Park who are being forced to park on Kingsmills Road.

New restrictions proposed by Highland Council would see double yellow lines introduced on Kingsmills Road extended to the junction with Damfield Road and two hour parking on sections of MacEwan Drive, Leys Drive and Darnaway Road.   The council also intend to bring in 2 hour parking in the Fraser Park car park under a separate scheme.

These proposals will shortly be advertised in the local press and on notices displayed on the roads involved.  Local residents and other interested road users will be invited to make representations at that time.
The Council anticipates that new parking systems will be put in place in Spring 2010.
