Leisure Pool Reopens One Month Ahead Of Schedule

Management at Inverness Leisure are delighted to be able to announce that the Leisure Pool at the Bught Park complex  is due to reopen now that repairs have been completed to the damage caused by the fire in the plant room in September last year.

The pool is set to open its doors to the public at 10am on Monday 2nd March 2009.

Speaking about the reopening James Martin, General Manager said, “We are obviously extremely pleased that the contractors involved in this project have been able to progress so well through the works needed to get the leisure pool reopened again.

“It now means that we are able to open the fun pool facilities well ahead of the date we had originally calculated.

“Over the course of this weekend our Lifeguards will be going through some intensive refresher training in relation to working on the leisure pool in preparation for this area of the building being made available to our customers on Monday.

Responding to questions regarding staffing reductions during the closure period, Mr Martin said, “Due to the level of training and qualification required for our staff, we obviously treat them as our most valuable asset in our Company.  Therefore, immediately following the fire in September we were able to make secure arrangements with our Insurers that none of our staff need be lost during the closure period.

“And I am very pleased to say that as a result of retaining the staff by redeployment to other areas, the vast majority of them has opted to stay with us.   They have maintained their training throughout the closure and have been utilised in the Competition pool during the period.

Commenting on the leisure pool features he continued, “As a result of the replacement plant that we have installed, our customers will now see some new and reinstated features in the leisure pool.  I am sure they will make the experience even more fun for our customers when they come back.

“Working with the main contractors on the project, we have taken the opportunity to undertaken some internal maintenance and carry out some other works in order to give the leisure pool section of the building a freshen-up.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Management and Team at Inverness Leisure, the General Manager concluded, “We are clearly delighted to now be at a stage where we can re-open the whole facility again.  However, I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Highlands & Islands Fire Service for their support on the day of the fire.  I would also thank the project management team and the many contractors for getting the works undertaken in the timescales and enabling us to open up sooner than expected.

“But finally, I would like to thank our many thousands of customers who have offered their kind words of encouragement and support, have displayed the utmost patience with us, but more importantly have remained loyal to us during these last few very challenging months.

“My team and I look forward to welcoming our customers, old and new, back to the facilities and look forward to getting back to ‘business as usual’.”
