Hill Walking For Beginners

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are organising a hill walk to introduce people to hillwalking and navigation at Meall Fuar mhonaidh, near Drumnadrochit on Saturday 25th July from 10am to 4pm.

Katy Martin, Inverness Ranger who is leading the walk, said: “For people who have always wanted to learn how to use a map and compass, this is the walk for them. It’s an enjoyable introductory walk, so we’ll be helping people learn the basics on a great hill. Katy Martin, Inverness Ranger who is leading the walk. Meall Fuar mhonaidh is a lovely hill to climb with great views over Loch Ness and from the Moray Firth to Ben Nevis.”

The walk up Meall Fuar mhonaidh is 9km/6miles long, climbs up to 699 metres and is weather dependent. The event is most suitable for adults and there is a £5 charge, payable on the day. Places are strictly limited so anyone wishing to book a place and to find out the meeting point, should call Katy on 01463 710786.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers have the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
