Aiming High At Climbing Festival

Children and adults will have the chance to scale new heights in Fortrose at the weekend when The Black Isle Leisure Centre hosts a special Climbing Festival.

The main attraction will be a mobile climbing wall suitable for anyone with a head for heights from 5 years old to adults to come and try.  The Wall will be available from 4pm to 6pm on Friday (27 March) and again from 10am to 5pm on Saturday.  Sessions, which must be booked in advance cost £2 per person.

Other events taking place on Saturday include Laser Tag organised by local company Wild Woodz Paintball, a bouncy castle, badminton, spinning bikes and story telling sessions in the community library.  An inspirational climbing film will be shown at 2.30pm and again at 3.45pm in the theatre and throughout the day pupils from Fortrose Academy will be serving refreshments.

Speaking on behalf of the Black Isle Members, Councillor Craig Fraser said:  “We welcome this wonderful opportunity for young people to come and try out the climbing wall on their doorstep.  From films to fun activities there really will be something for everyone and I am sure the festival will be a great success. There certainly is no excuse for anyone to be bored over the holidays as the Leisure Centre will be running many other activities throughout the Easter break.”

The event has been organised by The Highland Council’s Active Schools Co-ordinator Nicola Yea and staff at the Black Isle Leisure Centre.

Nicola said:  “The Leisure Centre have been taking bookings all week for people to come and try the Climbing Wall and it has proved very popular so the weekend should be lots of fun for all ages and a great way to start the school holidays.

Bookings for the Climbing Wall can be made by contacting the Black Isle Leisure Centre on 01381 621252.
