New head teacher for Auldearn

The new head teacher of Auldearn Primary School is to be Angela Cryans, the depute head teacher at Inshes Primary, Inverness.

Mrs Cryans will take up her new post at the beginning of the new school session.

She takes over at Auldearn from Mrs Meg Nesbitt, who is retiring at the end of this school session.

Mrs Nesbitt has been a teacher since 1970, starting out her career in Cowdenbeath, Fife. She then moved to Forres in 1972 and transferred to Millbank Primary, Nairn, in 1976.

From 1977, she covered as a supply teacher for 13 years. She returned to a class teacher’s post in Auldearn in 1990 and has been there as class teacher, senior teacher, acting head teacher for a year and then head teacher for five years.

The school has a roll of 150 in mainstream with 39 in Nursery. It serves an area to Glenferness in the south, taking in Moyness and out to Hardmuir and Lochloy.
