Consumer protection and money advice on the agenda

Consumer protection and money advice are the main topics for consideration at the next meeting of The Highland Council’s Ward Forum for Ward 22 (Fort William and Ardnamurchan) with presentations from two of the Council’s advice officers. The meeting will take place on Monday 23 November 2009 at 6.30pm in the Council Chambers, Lochaber House, Fort William.

The Council’s Trading Standards section offers businesses and customers a wide range of help and advice in relation to a variety of trading and consumer issues.  Mark McGinty, one of the Council’s Trading Standards Officers will outline the work of the section and will be giving pre-Christmas advice to the public about their rights and what to look out for.

Sandra Smith, one of the Council’s Money Advice Officers, will also be giving seasonal advice at a time when it is all too easy to get into debt or for those with general money worries.

While the Ward Forum will concentrate on these consumer and financial issues, there will also be a community safety update and as usual, there will be the opportunity to input issues and views concerning the wider Ward 22 area.

The meeting will conclude with a public question and answer session.
