Victorian Market model railway returns

Inverness Winter Festival’s smallest attraction, the Victorian Market model railway display, will officially open for the Christmas season at noon on Saturday 28 November.

Following tradition, the model railway will start work following a loud blast from The Fat Controller’s Whistle, which this year will be blown into by the Chairman of the Inverness Winter Festival Highland Councillor Roy Pedersen.

Built and maintained by members of Inverness and District Model Railway Club with support from the Inverness Common Good Fund;  the model railway display runs around a specially constructed track high above the shops in the Victorian Market and is regarded as one of the Highland Capital’s favourite attractions for children of all ages.

Councillor Pedersen said: “The Victorian Market Model Railway Display is a wonderful sight to see and on behalf of all the families who are going to get so much pleasure from seeing the little trains making their deliveries, I would like to thank all the volunteers from the Model Railway Club for the many hours of much appreciated effort that they have put in to create something really special for Christmas 2009 for our community.”
