Temporary road closures during Loch Ness Marathon

On Sunday 4th October 2009 the Loch Ness Marathon, River Ness 10K Race and River Ness 5K Fun Run, take place and motorists are being advised by The Highland Council that temporary road closures will be in place during the day.

The roads affected on Sunday 4 October 2009 are as follows:

• B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores - Inverness Road closed at its junction with the U53 Knockie Road to its junction with the B852 Dalcrag Bridge – Foyers – Inverfarigaig - Dores Road, from 7.30am to 10.30am.

• B852 Dalcrag Bridge – Foyers – Inverfarigaig - Dores Road closed at its junction with the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness - Dores - Inverness Road to its junction with the C21 Inverfarigaig - Glenlia Road, from 9.45am to 11.30am.

• B852 Dalcaig Bridge – Foyers – Inverfarigaig - Dores Road closed at its junction with the U44 Foyers Road to its junction with the C20 Inverfarigaig - Errogie Road, from 10.15am to 12 noon.

• B852 Dalcrag Bridge – Foyers – Inverfarigaig – Dores Road closed at its junction with the C20 Inverfarigaig - Errogie Road to its junction with the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

• B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road closed to northbound traffic between its junction with the B852 Dalcrag Bridge – Foyers – Inverfarigaig – Dores Road and its junction with the Holm Roundabout, Inverness, from 10.15am to 14.00pm.

• C16 Inverness - Ashie Moor Road closed at its junction with Holm Road, Inverness to its junction with the C10 Torbreck Road, from 9.30am to 11.05am.

• C10 Torbreck Road closed at its junction with the C16 Inverness - Ashie Moor Road to its junction with the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores - Inverness Road, from 10.50am to 11.10am.

• B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores - Inverness Road closed at its junction with the C10 Torbreck Road to its junction with the Holm Roundabout, from 10.55am to 11.20am.

• B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road closed to northbound traffic between its junction with Holm roundabout and its junction with the Ness Bank and Cavell Gardens Road, from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained at all times.

• Castle Road, Inverness, closed to northbound traffic between its junction with Haugh Road and its junction with Bridge Street, between 11:00am and 3:00pm. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained at all times.

• Bught Road, Inverness, closed at its junction with the A82 (T) to its junction with Whin Park, from 6.00am to 4.00pm.

• Bught Road and Ness Walk, Inverness, closed at its junction with Whin Park to its junction with Bishop’s Road, from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

• Bught Lane, Inverness, closed at its junction with Bught Road to its roundabout junction, at the entrance to ‘Inverness Sports Centre’ car park, from 09.15am to 4.00pm.

The closures will affect vehicular traffic, but pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.  Alternative routes for vehicular traffic will be signposted during the periods of the closure.
