Locals urged to stand for Dulnain Bridge Community Council

People in the Dulnain Bridge area are being urged to stand for election onto Dulnain Bridge Community Council.

Highland Councillor Jaci Douglas, who attends the community council meetings said: “It is important for local democracy that more people come forward with nominations for Dulnain Bridge Community Council which has two vacant seats on its committee.
She added: “At the recent election no valid nominations were received. Without sufficient nominations, the community council cannot be established.

The period for receipt of nominations has been extended. Nomination papers are available from: The Highland Council Service Point, The Square, Grantown on Spey or from Mary McCafferty tel: 01479 851311.

Councillor Douglas added: “Similar recent extension periods were provided for Cromdale and Advie, and Boat of Garten Community Councils  which were successful in increasing the numbers of nominations put forward. I hope that this extension for Dulnain Bridge Community Council has the same results.”

Nominations for Dulnain Bridge Community Council will be accepted up until 5pm on Wednesday 14 October 2009.  If no further nominations are received by this date the Community Council will be dissolved and all assets will transfer to The Highland Council, to be held in trust.
