Highland Council recruiting Genealogy Trainee

Highland Council is seeking to recruit a trainee Genealogist to support the Council’s Genealogy staff in the operation of the Family History Centre at the Highland Archive and Registration Centre, Inverness.

The £14,000 four year post is currently being advertised as a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake formal training in Genealogy and Family History while gaining experience of all aspects of work in the Council’s Family History Centre.

Susan Beckley Highland Council Archivist said: “This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to follow a career in family history and genealogy. This new trainee post will assist our existing Genealogist and Genealogy Assistant in a variety of roles serving the public and the Council.”

The Family History Centre is housed in the Council’s Highland Archive and Registration Centre which is a Highland 2007 legacy project that opened to the public during Scotland’s “Year of Homecoming” in October 2009.
