Weather Update - Friday 26 February

A total of 8 secondary schools and 38 primary schools were closed today (Friday) as a result of the continuing adverse weather.

Primary School Closures:  Ardross; Bonar Bridge; Gledfield (Ardgay); Kiltearn; Kinlochbervie; Newmore; Rogart; Rosehall.

Secondary School Closures:   Kinlochbervie High; 

Primary School Closures:  Avoch; Cromarty; Culbokie; Ferintosh; Marybank; Mulbuie, Resolis; St Clements Special School, Dingwall; Strathconon; Strathgarve; Tore.

Secondary School Closures  Dingwall Academy. 

Primary School Closures:  Abernethy; Alvie; Aviemore; Beauly; Cannich Bridge; Carrbridge; Central, Inverness;  Dalwhinnie;  Daviot; Deshar (Boat of Garten); Foyers; Gergask; Glenurquhart; Grantown;  Kingussie; Kirkhill;   Newtonmore; Strathdearn; Stratherrick; Teanassie..

Secondary School Closures:  Charleston Academy; Culloden Academy (S1-3 only); Glenurquart High (open only to non-bus pupils); Grantown Grammar; Inverness Royal Academy (S1-2 only); Kingussie High.

Road Update

A9 Inverness to Newtonmore is now open. The Slochd is passable with extreme care.

A9 between Newtonmore and Blair Atholl remains closed for the present. Work is taking place to open the road by Transerve and Northern Constabulary.

The situation will be reviewed and a further update issued at 15:30 hrs. 

All remaining roads remain open, but are heavily affected by snow and the public are asked to only travel if absolutely necessary.

Further significant falls of snow are forecast and motorists should take the usual winter precautions, whilst checking for up to the minute advice on the state of roads throughout the Highlands and Scotland generally from Traffic Scotland
