Public thanked for help with roadside surveys

The Highland Council would like to thank motorists in the Inverness area for their assistance and understanding when traffic surveys were undertaken in November last year.  The surveys collected travel data of motorists’ journeys in to and out of Inverness and is currently being assessed.  It will be used in the preparation of a land-use/transport model for the ‘journey to work’ area of the city of Inverness, covering the Moray Firth catchment.

The model will become an essential part of the long term development strategy for the area, and will be used to test transport proposals, inform the ongoing preparation of Local Development Plans, transport strategies and for development control management purposes.

Further roadside surveys are planned to be undertaken during March/April 2010 at a number of locations on the road network between 7am and 7pm.

Three winners each received £100 from the draw made from those returning completed postcards issued during the surveys. They are George Mackay from Nairn, Tracie Buchanan from Beauly, and Iain Roberts from Westhill, Inverness.
