Meeting the Gruffalo in Caithness

Youngsters in the Caithness area have enjoyed ‘Meet the Gruffalo’ sessions over the first few weeks of the school holidays. Organised by the Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers, events have run in Dunnet Forest, Wick Riverside and Dunbeath Strath.

Marina Swanson, East Caithness Ranger and event organiser said: “We have had a fantastic turn out with almost 200 people attending our Gruffalo events. The weather has been extremely kind to us and it has been a fun way to get the children out and about to enjoy their local environment.”

The countryside rangers have other children’s’ events organised throughout the holidays. The children’s nature groups meets every Tuesday at 11am at Seadrift centre, Dunnet and is suitable for 8-14 year olds although under 8’s may attend with an accompanying adults. It costs £2 per child.
