Expo Appoints Young Ambassadors

The countdown to launch for Scotland’s Housing Expo has been marked with the induction of its newest recruits.

Thirty-five students, all hailing from the Highlands, have been appointed as House Ambassadors for the month-long Expo, which kicks off this Sunday, 1 August. Each will be responsible for a home, providing visitors with information about how it has been built.

Many of the House Ambassadors are studying architecture, construction and engineering at universities across Scotland with some based at the Construction and Forestry School within Inverness College UHI.

The induction process for the House Ambassadors, led by Scotland’s Housing Expo Project Manager Fiona Hampton, included a mix of theory and practice to learn about the Expo, its ethos and principles, the house designs and construction methods.

Chair of the Board for Scotland’s Housing Expo, Councillor Jean Urquhart said: “The Expo has brought real experience and jobs to young people from the Highlands. We’re proud of our team of House Ambassadors who are very excited and enthusiastic about getting involved and looking forward to welcoming visitors to the event throughout August.”

Scotland’s Housing Expo runs from 1-31 August at Milton of Leys off the A9 at Inverness. For further information on the daily changing programme of events log on to www.scotlandshousingexpo.com.
