Synchronized skating team receives civic recognition from Inverness City

A team of synchronized skaters from the Highlands who won gold in their class at the British championships in Sheffield recently attended a civic reception at Inverness Town House.

The Moray Dolphins were also named Team of the Year 2010 and won an award for the most enjoyable performance at the championship in Sheffield.

The fifteen-strong team of young ladies from Inverness, Nairn and Fortrose and their Coach Amanda Clinton were welcomed to the Town House by Provost of Inverness Councillor Jimmy Gray and Depute Provost Councillor Alex Graham

Congratulating them on their achievements Provost Gray said: “What shining ambassadors you are for the City of Inverness and the Highlands. Your dedication and commitment to your sport is an excellent example for all young people today and we are all extremely proud of your achievements.”

Coach Amanda Clinton said: “It was an honour to be invited to the Town House. It was a great experience to have our achievements acknowledged by the Provost and Council members as my skaters worked so hard last year and have finally got something to show for it!”

The team members are: Carrie Ann, Megan and Rhiannon Hayes, Bethany Cameron, Hannah Bethune, Nikki Carswell, Emma MacLeod, Naomi MacKay, Imogen Jones, Eilish Rennie, Caroline Allan, and Beth MacKintosh, from Inverness;  Lesley and Hazel Forbes from Nairn and Marrianne Stevenson from Fortrose.

Hazel Forbes is Captain and Imogen Jones Vice Captain.
