Response to Highland Airways going into Administration

Councillor Ian Ross, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Planning Environment and Development Committee, has expressed the Council’s deep disappointment that Highland Airways, the Highland-based air services company, has gone into Administration.

Councillor Ross said: “We are very concerned about the potential loss of jobs and the impact on services from Inverness Airport to the Western Isles, in particular.  We will be seeking early meetings with the Administrator and Highlands and Islands Enterprise to establish what can be done to rescue this important Highland business.

“The Partnership Action for Continuing Employment Initiative will immediately kick in to provide advice and assistance to  members of staff affected by the suspension of the business.

“And if any member of staff is thinking of starting up their own business, Business Gateway is there to provide advice and assistance.”
